The song "On the Radio" by Regina Spektorn is one of my favorite songs from her. I believe what the autor is trying to say trough this song is how life works and also repeats its self in a way. She talks about how we all laugh until we cry and how we cry until we laugh and that is something that we all do over and over in our lifes. She also talks about how a lot of us fall in love and hope we dont get hurt along the way however, even if we do get hurt, we do it all over again later on.

 Advertisement's now a day's seem to be using some of the same elements that pornographic shows use. This is getting worse every year. If we look at advertisements from even 15 years ago, the actress' and actors were dress to cover most parts of their bodies, now we are lucky to watch 3 commercials in a row on TV where the actors have more than just underwear.

I don't personally agree with commercials using pornographic elements. We are always hearing of girls who go anorexic to look ''beautiful'' and I believe commercials, magazines and advertisements start this problem.
 Many young children are allowed to watch what they please on TV, and when clicking to channels they are going to see commercial that include some elements of pornography and that should not be expose to children of young ages.

A commercial that views women as sexual objects and implies that women would sell sex whenever they could would be the Victoria Secret Advertisement showed below.

Another commercial that has pornographic elements would be the Mooselight commercial. This shows women as sexual objects and innocence as the last frontier.

My Role

We all wish we could be famous, act in movies, sing or tell jokes, however we all can't be famous.
 If  had the opportunity to be in a movie I think I would be perfect to play the role of the crazy little girl that just does not care what people think.

The reason why I believe I would be perfect for this role is because I have the greatest dancing moves and the greatest face expressions. Now, you might not believe this from the girl who is always quiet but, remember that you can't judge someone from their appearance.

I believe the director would choose me for that part because I would show him how good my dance and signing skills are..well not really, because they are  not that good. In reality I don't believe the director would chose me because I truly suck at acting and memorizing things but if I could be in a movie I would definitely want to be that character.

My Favourite Media

When it come to my favorite type of media I would have to say I love fashion magazines. I don't know exactly what it is that attracts my attention so much into this type of media, maybe it's how us girls usually want EVERYTHING, so when flipping trough the colorful pages full of expensive fashionable dresses we sort of wish we had all of whats was inside that magazine.

Another reason why I think I enjoy fashion magazines is because they become really helpful when a new season starts. They provide us with tons and tons of ideas of the latest shoes, make-up, clothes etc. Whenever you are looking for an idea of an outfit, you can look trough a magazine and try to match up your clothes with the outfits on the models of the magazines.

People who might not enjoy this type of media might be boys. The reason why I believe this is because we all know that boys are just not interested in dresses, purses and shoes! They are interested in cars, hunting and beer.

Conflict Resolution.

We always see conflicts in TV shows or movies. Sometimes, conflicts are resolved peacefully and at times violently. In the movie Enough, her back because of fear, she soon realizes that the only way for her to move on, is to get rid of him. Ththe two main characters; Slim and Mitch chose to finish their conflict with violence. Both adults around their thirty's use violence to the point where only one of them lives.

Slim is a full time waitress who marries Mitch; a construction company owner. After several years of marriage, Mitch becomes an abusive husband and Slim's only scape is to run away along with her four-year old daughter. Although she makes sure to run away as far as possible, Mitch seems keep finding her and threatening to kill her. After several months of Slim looking behind e conflict between both of the characters ends at Mitch's house where Slim beats him to death.

The following video shows the scene where both characters face each other once again and finish all their conflicts.

Characters in Television.

One three hill is an American teen/young adult show created by Mark Schwahn. It is one of my favorite T.V shows and one of the most popular teen and young adults show now a days.

The show consist of 5 main characters:
Lucas Scott: a writer.
Nathan Scott: an NBA basketball player.
Hailey James-Scott: a high school teacher
Peyton Sawyer: an owner of a music recording studio.
Brook Davis: an owner of a fashion line.

All of the characters are around 23 years old and have all been friends since their high school years. Lucas Scott is a boy who comes from a mid-style family life. In the show Lucas is considered the 'hero', who is always looking out for the people he loves the most.

Nathan Scott is a boy who comes a wealthy family. Although he was never the nicest guy, he turned out to be a loving father and friend. In the show he is considered to be the 'jock' who persuaded his dreams of becoming a basketball NBA player.

Hailey James-Scott is Nathan's Wife and Lucas's best friend. She comes from a big mid-style family who is loving and caring. In the TV show, Hailey is considered as the 'smart girl' who is always kind and always looks for ways to be a better mother,teacher, wife and friend.

Peyton Swayer is a now Lucas's wife and also a mother of a baby girl. She comes from a small, mid-style family life and has been trough many rough paths in her life. In the show, Peyton is considered the 'misfortune girl'. She really has bad luck in everything she does, but always has Lucas to look after her when she needs someone to help her.

At last but not least, Brook Davis; my favorite character. Brook comes from a wealthy family however, she has always lived on her own. In the show she is considered as the 'drama/fun girl' however, over the years she has become known as a dependent, respectful, successful woman. She is Peyton's best friend and is always there for anyone who needs help in any way.

The following video shows a scene of season 6 showing Lucas and two of his friends; Julian and Reese. The scene explains their most irritating problems and at the end Reese, explains a way to look at things from a possitive way.

Commercials

The 'Venus Embrace' advertising stars American, Jennifer Lopez. The commercial advertiser's a smooth, five blade woman's razor. The actress, singer and fashion designer, Ms.Lopez was born on, July 24th, 1969 in the Bronx's, NY, USA.

The next commercial advertises the product 'Pro Activ', a skin acne treatment. The commercial stars American, Jessica Simpson who advertises Pro Activ and lets us know how good of a product it is from her own personal experience. Ms.Simpson is a singer actress and fashion designer who was born on July 10th, 1980 in Abilene,Texas, USA.

The 'Cover Girl Ageless' commercial stars American, Ellen DeGeneres. In this Advertisement, Ellen talks about the wonderful product that Cover Girl has just invented and how fantastic it makes you look. Ms. DeGeneres is an American stand-up comedienne, television host and actress who was born in January 26, 1958 in Metairie, Louisiana, USA.

My Favourite Personalities

When it comes to 'favorite female personalities' I would chose, Selena Gomez who stars in, 'Wizards of Waverly Place'. Selena, is naturally funny and makes me laugh every time I watch her show. She has won the 'Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series' and several other awards.

She is half Italian and half Mexican and considers herself a 'animal lover (she has adopted 5 dogs).

The one male actor who can make me laugh until my stomach starts paining would be, Russell Brand. He has acted in 'Get him to the Greek', 'Forgetting Sara Marshal', 'Bedtime Stories', 'Despicable me', 'Hop', 'St. Trinians' and  'Arthur'. He is an actor,comedian, singer, columnist, author and a radio and television presenter.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has brought humor into everyone’s life for the past years. His lovable and energetic humor has made him a great acting career and many fans as well.

Although Mr. Carrey currently lives in the United States, he is Canadian. He has acted in movies like; Liar Liar, The Grinch, Bruce Almighty, Fun with Dick and Jane and several other films. He has received two Golden World Awards and has also been nominated for several awards including; best actor, best kiss, best comedic performance, favorite movie actor, funniest male actor and favorite voice for animated movies.

Jim Carrey began his acting carrier in Ontario, at the age 10 he sent his resume the ‘’carol Burnett Show’’ and his first comedy act took place at the Yuk-Yuk club.  Jim, lived a very poor life when he was younger but that never put his humor and happiness down.

In our opinion, we believe that Jim Carrey does not show too often that he is Canadian; however he has made some comedy acts involving the fact that he is Canadian. Every time he performs in movies, shows or interviews he lets people see the Canadian humor that he has used to make people laugh worldwide.

Is Violence Necessary?

Legendary is a movie that was made to be about fighting and wrestling however, the movie also makes us realize how important family members are in our lives trough the main character, a young boy, who desperatelly needs his brother's fighting advice. There are two reasons why this movie was created with violence.
The first reason I believe violence was involved with 'Legendary' was because the purpose of this movie was to be exciting and most excting and breath taking movies are made trough violence. The second reason is because production companies want a good return on their multi-million dollar investments and since movies with violence and horror are very popular on today's market, they believe the will make a good investment.

The next movie that I chose is called, Enough. This movie shows us to stand up for ourselves and to know each one of us is valuable. The movie displays various violence scenes. There are two reasons why I believe this movie was created with violence.
The first reason is because the movie was made to make us see the types of violence out there in the world and they show us types of violence trough the use of computerized effects so the movie can contain spectacular ways to make people realise this. The second reason can also be because historically, movies have always had a 'villan' and a 'hero' who at the end resolve their problems trough violence and this movie plays that role.

I believe violence does tent to make a good movie. The reason why I believe this is because, when you are sitting in a movie theater watching a fight in a movie screen, you get a feeling of either excitement or terror, and those two feelings is what makes people keep going to the movie theaters to watch movies. Althought violence does make a good movie, at times, there is too much of it in one movie. What happens is, that the movie will either get too boring for some people or it will discuss other people.
Some movies however do have to have violence because of their story line in order to get the movie's message across the viewers mind, for example 'Enough'. I dont believe a action or fast-peaced movie can be realised without violence because, people have come to get use to the fact that all fast-peaced or action movies have violence in them that will give them ''chills'' or ''excitment'' after all, producers make movies that will attrack peoples attention so they can make a profit.

How Much is Media Being Used ?

Media is being used every day by people of all ages now a days. We use cell phones, iPod’s, computers and radios on a daily basis and various people believe that their lives depend on these types of technology.

When we looked at the statistics of young adults using media devises, I was impressed by the numbers shown.  The average number of hours teenagers spend a day playing video games in the USA is about 20 to 30 minutes a day. I use to believe that young adults spend between 1 to 2 hours a day. Another statistic that surprised me, was how a lot of people still rely on the radio, well I though most people had replaced the radio with iPod’s and CD’s.

One thing however that I did have in common with most teenagers shown on the chart with comments, was how I’ve had a Facebook account since I was about 14 or how I mostly turn the TV on before going to sleep.  The majority of teenagers and young adults also have inherit the habit of finding all their answers trough Google, I have that habit as well and it’s impressive how much we rely on the Internet now a days.

Two aspects that I would use if I could make a survey on teenagers are on; what do kids from grade 5 to 7 grade mainly use their cell phones for and how many people believe that there should be a certain age for teenagers and kids to have a cell phone, Facebook or e-mail account.

Blog Critique

Smile please

This is a blog that provides laughter and humour to people on a daily basis.  The Blog ‘’Smile Please’’ is full with different types of jokes provided from followers, family member and close friends of the creator/writer.

Although this was one of my favourite blogs, the one thing I would recommend to the blogger is to add a little more color and perhaps pictures as well. This blog is easy to navigate, quickly to read and the grammar in it was great, which is what I enjoyed about it.

 

The Hot Dog Truck

This blog helps people and provides them with information on how to open a Hot Dog Truck business. When I read this blog, I realize how you can really write about anything you want or classified your blog as anything at all. I found the blog weird but what brought my attention to it was the fact that it was different from all the previous blogs I had seen that day.

What I liked about it was that the information provided was surprisingly very helpful for someone who is trying to open this type of business.  Another aspect of the blog that I enjoyed was the over-all design because it really represented the blogs theme.

Types of Mass Media

The following video represents entertaining media. It is classified as entertaining because it attracts out attention by making us sometimes laugh or cry or even learn something new at times. This media is big in business because we humans enjoy watching commercials, videos, movies and programs that increase our mood in different ways.

The next type of video is classified as Advertising and public relations messages. These types of messages can be shown on TV commercials and news papers. They encourage us to buy products on the market or join activities or clubs etc.

The type of media that shows us images we come to accept as normal behavior or type of appearance. As years go by this type of media seems to grow more and more. What people use to consider as improper behavior is now consider to some people as normal behavior.

The next type of media is the type of media that help us expand our personal experiences. This can be any type of media that shows us different parts of the world without us needing to be there. People watch these TV programs mostly because of curiosity.

What is Media Literacy?

These two video documentaries explain how media literacy is about analyzing and accessing today’s news. It shows us the two trends of media; the corporatism/consolidation/centralization media and the diversity/localism/independent type of media. Producers explain how media is starting to affect people’s way of living in both good and bad ways and how we should focus more in the diversity/localism/independent type of media.

 The problem happening now in the media marketing is that some producers will do and advertise anything in order to make a profit. Media Producers are now trying to find a way to increase the number of people accessing the diversity/localism/independent type of media. Producers, journalists, public speakers and teachers, are now coming up with ideas to attract people’s attention into media that will help us understanding the role and relationship with society which is a very important fact in order to being a good consumer.

My expectations for this year are to learn more about what is going on around the world and how people are reacting to these events.
